Made from Red Cedar and Siberian Larch, the walls have a 50mm layer of 100% Irish sheep’s wool, which coupled with a floor full of sawdust and the option of a roof with Hessian bags with sheep’s wool insulation ensures minimal heat transfer.

The Lune Valley Top-Bar hive features a hinged roof fitted with gas struts to allow ease of opening. The long legs of the hive can be shortened to ensure that the hive is at a comfortable working height.

The hive can accommodate 28 standard top bars, and can be divided into two with each half being amply large enough to house a full colony of bees.

A unique feature of the Lune Valley Top-Bar hive is it’s biological sump which is built into the floor of the hive, adding to the insulation. The floor itself is hinged to allow easy access to the sump.

The Lune Valley Top-Bar hive comes as a complete hive, with customer choice of add-ons.
